about us
Overview
The continuously growing capacities for the acquisition and storage of data sets call for new approaches to process data efficiently and extract relevant information. In fact, the interest in large data sets is when they are actually 'strange' and allow us to learn about complex mechanisms generating them. In these contexts, it may be difficult or even counterproductive to employ simple statistical models for the learning process.
The Complex Data Modeling Research Network brings together leading experts and talented young researchers in statistics and data science from different universities around the world. The mission of the network is to promote world-class statistical and data science research, developing innovative methodology to support the generation of data-based evidence, and to foster faculty and student interaction and exchange among the centeres involved in the network. The Complex Data Modeling Research Network carries out its role by organizing open and closed online seminars, and reading groups.
The network is led by MiDaS and involves researchers from the following departments:
- Department of Statistics, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), Chile
- Department of Statistics, Brigham Young University (BYU), USA
